Product Description

An  infrared inductive switch is an electronic device used to sense human body movement  and provide output signal. It can be used to control various types of lamps and electrical appliance. When a person  enters the detection range of infrared inductive switches, the switches will be  ON. When a person leaves and a delay time has expired, the switches will  automatically  close. If a person moves continuously within the detection range of the switches, the  switches  will  be continuously triggered and remain ON.

I. Operation Characteristics

1.  The detection range of the inductive switch is based on the sizes of Fresnel lens. For round lens with 120 degree,  the round zones within 120 degrees  from lens axis are  the detection zone. In general , the detection distance at cone edge is smaller than the one at centerline.

2.  The detection distance refers to a distance from lens tangent line.

3.  The  delay time refers to a time span from the time when an inductive switch detects a moving person body to the time when the output becomes OFF . If  the delay time is 30 s, the output becomes OFF 30 s after the switch detects a body . If the triggering mode is continuous triggering, the ortput becomes OFF after another 30s delay time when a person enters the detection range within 30s .

4.  If  a  switch  has a light control option , the switch output becomes ON only at night when a person moves in the detection range. If  a switch has not a light control option, the switch output becomes ON when a person enters the detection range,   and OFF when there is not a person in the detection range, either in the daytime or in the evening .

II. Selection Instruction

1.  The ratings of inductive switches chosen should conform to  the requirements of  actual loads.  The output modes are thyristor output and relay outputs. In general,  the thyristor output is used for lamps with resistive loads, such as incandescent lamps, while relay output is used for lamps with inductive loads, such as energy-saving lamps.

2.  The detection range and detection angles should be chosen according to the actual requirements for use.

3.  The delay time may be chosen among 30s, 1 min and 4 min. A delay time of 30s is chosen for lamps mounted at corridor while a delay time of 1 min and 4 min is generally chosen for lamps mounted inside toilers.

4.  If use in areas where light control is not required, such as inside  corridors, an inductive switch without light control option should be  chosen so as to avoid interference between  lamps.

5.  The dimension of inductive switches should facilitate installation.

III. Wiring Method

The red wire of a switch is connected with input power,  black wire is neutral line and yellow wire is the output wire. For exmple, for a 220 V inductive switch, the red wire is connected with phase conductors, the black wire is connected with neutral conductor and yellow wire and black wires are connected with the loads.

IV. Detection Method

1. When power is initially on, the output states of the inductive switches are undefined. When a person leaves the detection zone for at least 1 min and initialization is completed, the inductive switches enter normal operating states.

2. At night, the switch output becomes ON when person enters the detection zone,  and  becomes OFF a belay time (30s generally) after he or she leaves the detection zone.

3. If an inductive switch with light control option is tested in the daytime,  totally cover the switch  with a black object. When a person moves into the detection zone, the switch output should become ON. When a person leaves the detection zones  and  a delay time has expired, the switch output should become OFF.

4. For an inductive switch without light control option, its output should become ON when a person enters the detection zones either in the daytime or in the evening.

5.  If a person moves again in the detection zone within the delay time after an inductive switch is triggered, the switch output  will remain ON  state during  the delay  time after  the second movement is detected.

6. If a person does not move in the detection zone and a delay time has expired, the switch output will become OFF automatically.

V. Precaution:

1.  The  infrared  inductive switches are liable to  interference  by a strong light source. Therefore,  it should be mounted at a place where the switch is not exposed to  direct strong light.

2.  The infrared switches are liable to  interference by  strong convection  and  heat source. Therefore, don’t mount the switches at air ports and other  places  where  there is  strong convection or  temperature may change sharply, such as heating installations, stoves, windows and outdoor locations.

3.  The sensing probes should be mounted in such way that they face human body movement.

4.  Mount the inductive switches at a height of 2 to 2.2m so that they can detect human  body and not be interfered by kittens.

5.  Any obstacle in from of switch lens must be removed; otherwise, the detectors can not detect infrared rays transmitted by human bodies.

6.  When the ambient temperature approaches the temperature of human bodies,  the sensitivity of the inductive switches will drop.

7.  The sensitivity of inductive switches is associated with the direction of  body movement . The inductive switch is not sensitive to radial body movement, but sensitive to lateral body movement  (namely movement in a direction perpendicular to lens arc).  As a result, an optimum installation angle should be considered when installing the switches.

VI. Range of Application

The infrared inductive switches are able to automatically turn on various incandescent lamps, buzzers,  automatic dors, fans, drying apparatus and automatic hand washers. As an energy-saving and environmentally-friendly Hi-tech  product, it is especially suitable for use in passages and corridors in enterprises, hotels,  schools,  hospitals, marketplaces, warehouses  and families or used for automatic lighting and alarm systems of safety zones.
